Yeah, I know, I am lazy. Eh. I have been schoolin and workin and hangin. Website ended being last. I just took an exam in physics and I am pretty sure I failed. I hope I can finish out this class with a passing grade otherwise I will be taking it in the summer or the fall. If i take it this summer, I am tempted to take some extra curricular classes like guitar or piano, stuff I want to get better at. We shall see. I am also none too proud to say that I managed to get too rough with my laptop and break the screen. I is now in peices on a shelf awaiting a new screen ($190). I have managed to get 27 songs through expert on GH2. I really hate heart and stray cats. Managed to get a 63 in my calc class on the last test. I think I will pass as long as I do well on the final. My test average is a 60 but I have been getting all the homework done.

This whole Viginia Tech thing has got me watching a lot more news recently. You start thinking about how easy it is for someone to snap. One thing that pisses me off about this whole thing is how suddenly a teacher comes out of the woodwork to say how she told this kid to go get counseling but never took him. WTF? She is just as guilty for not doing what she though was right in the first place. Grrr. Don't come out professing your concern and inaction after he has shot the place up, it only proves how stupid you are for not doing something. What really concerns me is how these kids are going to let this even define them. It is the most important (gruesome as it may be) event that has happened to them in their lives. Now what?

I have decided that I both hate and love itunes. It is a great way to get your hands on some good news and info from websites like NPR and CNN, but the way it organizes your music is borderline moronic. It seperates albums by song contributor, this means that you end up with a folder for 50 cent, a folder for 50 cent with akon, .... the list goes on. My music folder went from 500 to 1240 folders after conversion. That is crap. Make a way for us to customize how itunes organizes our folders. I prefer the default Media player style, "Artist/Album/songs". It is clean, it works and I don't have to remember where itunes put half the damn songs.

Not much to go over in this update, I am happy to say that I got first place in novice class at the NM Trials Association April event. Gold medal and everything, I actually got a perfect score. I also got a pretty nasty sunburn to boot. More later.....

Well it is friday morning, time to go back to the SF. I am looking forward to finishing up the server project I have started. I would be lying if I said that I was actually finished with anything involving the server, it is an ongoing project. At this point I spend two days a week keeping everything and everybody as happy as I can. I did end up going to santa fe in wednesday and fixing the DHCP issue, turns out one of the switches was causing drama. I swapped it out and life was good again. The other day I wrote up a help page for the guys at valuepoint to help diagnose the problems with my Wifi. I have been in contact with them off and on. I think most of my issues can be attributed to bad grounding but I can never be sure. At one location, the unit runs fine but the VDSL is spotty. I have a feeling that will be my weekend white whale. Seeing as how the location is the most important unit in the park right now.

For the past two days in a row I have gotten a call from Kevin at 8am in the morning in regards to the lack of an internet connection at the RV Park. I really do not like to start my day by spending an hour on the phone trying to diagnose a problem via proxy and not come up with a solution. I can see spending two hours helping someone with it, but I would have to get it fixed. Right now I have rigged it so that it will at least work in it's most base form, and I have a forboding feeling I will be making a house call tonight. Worst part is that the extentions for the telepone lines I ordered will probly show up at about 8:45 tomorrow morning right after I have left to school in ABQ. No rest for the terminally technical. From what I can tell, the server is not giving out IP addresses, it has had the same 16 IPs for the last 4 hours. Bad sign. It means no one is getting an IP address from the server even though I can get to the dang thing from across the net. Very vexing. The internet connection is solid but the DHCP server is behaving badly. I am scared to even think of what is happening inside that box. Worst part is that for all I know, the DNS server is acting up just for grins too. I think it has something to do with the switch I am using but we shall see this weekend. I hope to have the time to set up the server as a Router for the network, or at least hook up the second NIC as another DHCP port.

Anyway, I took some pics so here they are:

Calculus Test: 80. Physics Test: 88.

Before I start getting emails about how an 80 is a crappy score, tell me if how well you know your rules of integration. Yeah, thought so. I am actually enjoying things right now. I spent all of last week working on Wifi in Santa Fe. I spent the last 12 days fighting with DHCP, DNS, VDSL, Channels, and more connection issues than you can shake a stick at. It still isn't working right. Don't get me wrong, I really do love the phone calls during class from my brother about how a customer can't get on the net, but sometimes, I just want it to be someone else's problem. Then I realize, who am I kidding, I actually LIKE this stuff. I am bad for myself. I can't help it. It must be genetic. More Wireless Adventures to come this weekend.

I have been doing final bug fixes to Zardus. I have actually set up an RSS feed, the history and Character pages are up, I am really waiting to see what kind stories will grow and evolve. I guess I have been waiting so long for it to be played. I really have spent over 200 hours working my way through the zardus project. Time to find all the bugs I can't find.

I am also still serious about questions. I will answer whatever you send.

Wow, so um, I should really stop reading other people's posts about political figures. No really, I almost fell out of my chair after I read this:

Posted by dreamchaser on Leasticoulddo.com

Dreamchaser:
Ok, so you made me check out the website...but I found a more entertaining one:

(All below are quotes by Ann Coulter)

The day after 9/11: "We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity."

"Congress could pass a law tomorrow requiring that all aliens from Arabic countries leave....We should require passports to fly domestically. Passports can be forged, but they can also be checked with the home country in case of any suspicious-looking swarthy males."

And more: "God gave us the earth. We have dominion over the plants, the animals, the trees. God said, 'Earth is yours. Take it. Rape it. It's yours.'"---Hannity & Colmes, 6/20/01

To a disabled Vietnam vet: "People like you caused us to lose that war."---MSNBC

"I think [women] should be armed but should not [be allowed to] vote."---Politically Incorrect, 2/26/01

"I think we had enough laws about the turn-of-the-century. We don't need any more." Asked how far back would she go to repeal laws, she replied, "Well, before the New Deal...[The Emancipation Proclamation] would be a good start."---Politically Incorrect 5/7/97

"If those kids had been carrying guns they would have gunned down this one [child] gunman. ... Don't pray. Learn to use guns."---Politically Incorrect, 12/18/97

If that does not just scare the crap out of you, what is wrong with you? This is not the kind of person who should be listened to for more than comic affect. Yikes.

Today I took my second test in Physics. I think I did pretty well, but then again I said that last time and got a 23. Here's to hoping.

I am 4 more school days away from spring break, yay! I am going to spend the week updating, auditing, editing moving, and drinking. This means I am going to santa fe to work on the may projects that I never have time for during school like the website/s, the wifi, moving the server, fixing grandma's internet, making tim's site, watching the office, finding other projects to occupy me, riding my motorcycle, and learning about RSS feeds.

Speaking of RSS feeds, I have decided to make one for my website, I have also put one up on my Zardus project. I think I will update the my site about every week or so with what I can. Zardus will be slow at first but when it is up and running, it should go faster. I have to write some php for it to auto update when someone makes a post.

One more test and 4 more days

I updated the questions page so if you want to send me stuff, go for it. Real stuff only please. I might put up some more pics this afternoon of some other stuff. I will make a feed for them.

Today marks two years. It also marks four years and three days. Four years and three days ago, one monday morning, a young friend of mine was found dead in his room. David Allen Colclough left us rather suddenly. He was 18. When my father told me, I flat out told him to stop fucking with me. I can still remember all the good times I had with him. He was truly a great person. Here's to David, may you have plenty of man nachos and Jack Daniels wherever you are.....

On this very day two years ago, an rather good skiier went up to santa fe ski area early on a sunday morning to beat traffic on his day off. He worked as a ski lift operator. On one of his runs down the mountain, something happened and he hit a tree. Jonathan "NNY" Micha Reeves died that morning. He was only 20. May you always have fast tacomas and loud systems.

It tears me up to have this kind of crap happen. They were both great friends and good people. I still miss them. I miss the laughs, the random tackles, the midnight beer runs, the offroad adventures, the lessons on how to eat baked potatoes like a man, all of it. Here's to two I knew.

Since everyone has gotten tired of my ugly mug by now, it is time for some content! Yay! I am really not sure what to put here so for now all I am going to do is toss up some stuff I like. I will also be going over news.

First, my name is John F. P. Brown. I am a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico. I am currently attending the University of New Mexico. My declared major is Electrical Engineering.

I spend every weekend in Santa Fe working for my family at Santa Fe Skies RV Park as a Front desk person and system management (I.T.). I run the wifi, the reservation system, some of the accounting and take care of technical problems. If you need my services, I charge $40/hr for most things.

I am working on finishing a project I started about 5 months ago called the Zardus Project in the hope of getting a working Post based RPG for the firefly storyline. Time constraints and other projects plus lack of interest have side shelved it for a while now. However, spring break is right around the corner!

I am also an online comic junkie, so for all of you who are looking for some good online comics, here is what I read:
Schlock Mercenary
Sluggy
Least I Could Do
Penny Arcade
Last Days of Foxhound
Order of the Stick
Erfworld:the battle for Gobwin Knob
Shortpacked!
Something Positive
Looking for Group
It's Walky!
Nukees
Hatesong
I think that covers it all. If not, EH....
